[Yeah, Stiles could have done a punch to the stomach, a knee, something to take Derek out fully (or try), but this is supposed to be learning, right? And so far he's just been...well this is just really unconventional. Which hey, is what he sort of expects with Derek, but constant attacking and harnessing his inner anger (really he is the Hulk, isn't he)...there's always something he is leaving out.
Like the knees, for instance.

[ Although that would be an interesting sight to see, a human with little to no fighting training taking down an experienced werewolf. Unfortunately there are only so many hits to his lower torso that he can handle and he'd rather skip over those. For the moment. They can revisit crotch shots at a later date, preferably with some sort of inanimate object working as a stand-in.
Pushing himself back up to stand straight, arm still over his stomach for the time being, Derek lets out a small huff. They've established that Stiles can hit hard and fight dirty if necessary. Time to work more on that technique then. ]
[ If nothing else, at least Stiles his knows thumb placement. They can skip right over the talk about broken thumbs and dislocated fingers. Straight into the swing of things then. Literally.
Derek holds up his palm in front of Stiles' fist before making a quick 'go on' motion. ]
[Stiles nods, and moves to hit Derek's fist. It's a bit too much arm motion, but he does put his core behind it, not just swinging from his shoulder down to his fist. He puts his body into it, stepping.]
[ Derek nods before taking a step back to retain their starting distance. Decent fist, decent follow-through, just needs a little toning down on the limb motion. It's a simple enough fix. ]
You need to minimise your arm movement. Try again, slower, and think about how you're moving.
It's going to feel weird, you're used to doing to the other way.
[ Now it's just a matter of breaking the habit and retraining the movement. This time Derek holds up his other palm, an indication to try the other arm. ]
[Well he flushes slightly because that was a stupid mistake to make.
Still, he settles back into his positioning, and throws a punch. The first one is slow, still testing out the technique. Giving a slight nod of his head (more to himself than anything), he throws a second, faster, with more force behind it, then.]
[ Derek shakes his head before dropping the whole mistake topic. It was a simple error and he'll just assume that the conversation jump was due to Stiles' suffering attention span.
He gives his own nods after both punches. It's clear to see that Stiles is making progress in the arm department. ]
You're going to move in a clockwise circle around me, I want you to keep punching.
[ Derek gives Stiles another rotation after he's started to get the hang of things before trying to catch him out. A fight requires a person's full attention, there will be numerous things going on at once, hitting and moving is just one side of it.
There's also the enemy's movements to consider. Every now and then Derek starts to lightly kick out at Stiles' legs. ]
[Stiles is so focused on his hand movements that he nearly doesn't catch the first kick. It's hard, trying to break his focus between the two. Derek not warning him doesn't help--and that's probably the point.
The first kick catches him, but for the most part, Stiles is able to dodge, eyes making quick travels from Derek's face, to his legs, hands, just trying to anticipate any shifts that would indicate another attack.]
[ It is in fact entirely the point to keep the kicks as random as possible. No prior warning with as minimal movement as possible. An intelligent enemy will avoid broadcasting it's attacks and strike unexpectedly. This is just a warm up.
Derek does have a slight tell when he's about to kick, or really do anything, he tenses. Specifically around his shoulders and neck. ]
[ Derek raises an eyebrow. It's not that he isn't aware of the neck roll that he tends to do, it's just that a massage? Really? Who would do that for him? Peter? ]

[ He's going to need a break from teaching anyway, a few minutes to try and figure out a plan from here on out. Once again, Derek kicks a leg out at random intervals. Just to make sure that Stiles can do the full exercise in both directions. ]
